Roald Dahl: The motif of sin in the book Charlie and the chocolate factory

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na analýzu motivu hříchu v knize britského spisovatele Roalda Dahla nesoucí název Karlík a továrna na čokoládu. Charakterizuje autorův život a dílo, vymezuje pojem motiv v kontextu literatury a definuje sedm smrtelných hříchů. Práce také obsahuje interpretaci, v níž jsou sledovány děj, místo a čas, motivy a postavy propojené s hříchy. Úkolem je především analyzovat v tomto díle autorovy postavy, u nichž lze nalézt motiv hříchu. Cílem práce je doložení materiálů potvrzujících přítomnost tohoto motivu.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the analysis of the motif of sin in the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by the British writer Roald Dahl. It characterizes the author's life and work, defines the concept of motive in the context of literature and describes the seven deadly sins. The work also contains an interpretation in which the plot, place and time, motives and characters connected with sins are traced. The main task of the analysis is primarily to examine the author's characters in this work, in which the motive of sin can be found. The aim of the work is to document the materials confirming the presence of this motif.
