The thesis focuses on the phenomenon of Islam in Europe and what identity change the communities of Muslim immigrants in Europe are undercoming. The main concern is the change of transnational ties among Muslims - the shift from original ethnically/nationally defined identities to "universalist" identity of the "global ummah".
