Diplomová práce se zabývá žánrovou analýzou dvou významných děl literatury 20. století - Pán prstenů J. R. R. Tolkiena a série knih o Harry Potterovi od J. K. Rowlingové. Při snaze žánrově tato díla jsou nápomocny definice žánrů souvisejících s fantasy literaturou, jako např. romance, pohádka, román, nebo žánrová literatura. The diploma thesis deals with a genre analysis of works of fantasy genre: J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter books. Apart from fantasy genre, it covers the definitions and brief descriptions of the genres related to fantasy literature, such as romance, formulaic literature, fairy tales, and novel.
