Alternative and augmentative communication in children with autism spectrum disorders

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá využitím metod alternativní a augmentativní komunikace (dále jen AAK) u žáků s poruchou autistického spektra (dále jen PAS) na základních školách běžného typu a základních školách zřízených dle § 16 odst. 9 školského zákona. Práce se skládá z teoretické a praktické části. Teoretická část je rozdělena do dvou kapitol a přibližuje základní teoretická východiska vztahující se ke komunikaci jedinců s PAS za pomoci systémů AAK. První kapitola popisuje charakteristiku PAS, etiologii a diagnostiku těchto poruch. Také jsou zde uvedeny možnosti edukace jedinců s PAS včetně legislativních vymezení. Druhá kapitola se věnuje významu komunikace, ontogenezi řeči u dětí s PAS a možnostmi rozvoje řeči s využitím AAK. V této kapitole jsou rovněž nastíněny specifické rysy komunikace osob s PAS a jednotlivé systémy AAK, které se u těchto jedinců uplatňují. Empirická část bakalářské práce obsahuje popis výzkumného šetření, které bylo založeno na kvantitativním výzkumu s využitím dotazníku vlastní konstrukce. Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce byla analýza postojů pedagogů ze základní školy běžného typu a základní školy zřízené dle § 16 odst. 9 školského zákona.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is concerned with the use of methods of alternative and augmentative communication (hereafter AAC) for pupils with autism spectrum disorders (hereafter ASD) at usual primary schools and primary schools based on the Section 16 (9) of the Education Act (special primary school). This thesis consists of the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is divided into two chapters and describes the basic theoretical background related to communication of individuals with ASD using AAC systems. The first chapter describes the characteristics of ASD, etiology and diagnostics of the disorder. The possibilities of education of individuals with ASD including legislative delimitation are also mentioned. The second chapter is concerned with the importance of communication, speech ontogenesis in children with ASD and possibilities of speech development using AAC. This chapter also outlines the specific features of the communication of people with ASD and the application of the individual AAC systems. The empirical part of the thesis contains a description of the research, which was based on quantitative research using a personally constructed questionnaire. The main objective of the bachelor thesis was to analyze the attitudes of teachers from the usual primary schools and the primary schools based on the Section 16 (9) of the Education Act.
