Typological analysis of donkeys in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zhodnotit tělesnou stavbu populace oslů v České republice. Hodnotili jsme celkově 22 tělesných měr, 7 úhlů a 6 hippometrických indexů. Měření probíhalo v měsících duben–září od roku 2012 do roku 2016. Pro práci byli vybráni osli starší 3 let, a to pouze klisny a hřebci.Ve vlastní práci jsme zjišťovali vliv sledovaných efektů, kterými byly pohlaví, věk, kohoutková výška, a zeměpisná lokalita na tělesné míry, úhly a hippometrické indexy. Sledované efekty jsme vyhodnocovali pomocí obecného lineárního modelu, který určoval statisticky průkazný vliv efektu na tělesné míry, úhly a hippometrické indexy. Tělesné míry, úhly a hippometrické indexy nejvíce ovlivňovala kohoutková výška, ale i ostatní sledované efekty ovlivňovaly minimálně jednu tělesnou míru, úhel či index. U prokázaných statisticky průkazných vlivů jsme přikročili k mnohonásobnému porovnávání jednotlivých efektů metodou Tukey – B test, na základě kterého jsme zjišťovali statisticky významně odlišné páry.Pro zjištění vztahů mezi jednotlivými mírami a úhly jsme v práci využili Pearsonova korelačního koeficientu, který potvrdil vliv kohoutkové výšky na ostatní míry, neboť korelační koeficient dosahoval významných hodnot. Úzké vztahy mezi jednotlivými mírami jsme však zjistili i u ostatních měr.Populace oslů v České republice v jednotlivých výškových kategoriích byla homogenní a při srovnání s populací Srbskou vykazovala obdobné hodnoty zjištěných tělesných měr, úhlů a hippometrických indexů.

Abstract:

The main goal of this work was to evaluate the physique of donkeys in the Czech Republic. A total of 22 body measurements, 7 angles and 6 hippometric indexes were taken into consideration. The measurements themselves were conducted during months April – September in years 2012 – 2016. Only stallions and mares older than three years were accepted into the measured sample (no geldings).In this thesis work we were focusing on identifying the influence of chosen effects; gender, age, withers height and geographical location on body measurements, angles and hippometric indexes. All of the abovementioned effects were statistically processed using the General Linear Model, which was able to determine any statistically conclusive influence of the effect on the body measurements, angles and hippometric indexes. It was the withers height that had its influence on most of the measurements, angles and indexes, but also other effects were found to have an influence on some.Whenever a statistically conclusive influence has been identified, a Tukey-B test of multiple comparison has been applied to determine possible statistically significantly different pairs.Pearson’s correlation coefficient was then used to reveal any linkages / relations between single body measurements, angles and hippometric indexes. As confirmed by the statistically significant values of this coefficient, the withers height indeed an influence on their body measurements. There were, however, many more relations found between other measures as well.The donkey population in the Czech Republic was homogenous considering the withers height groups. The Czech donkeys reached values similar to those of Serbian ones in terms of body measurements, angles and hippometric indexes.
