Assymetry in lower limb flexibility in girls participating in majorettes sport

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá asymetrií ve flexibilitě dolních končetin. V mažoretkovém sportu se často setkáváme s tím, že dívky preferují jednu dolní končetinu, na kterou mají větší rozsahy než na druhou dolní končetinu. V mnohých sportech se klade velký důraz na zvýšenou flexibilitu kloubů. Hypermobilita však může přesáhnout fyziologickou mez a může se tak stát rizikovým faktorem úrazů. Mažoretkový sport je právě jeden ze sportů, kde flexibilita hraje důležitou roli. Správný sportovní trénink může být prevencí před nežádoucími vlivy zvýšené jednostranné hypermobility. Cíl: Cílem této bakalářské práce je zjistit, zda v mažoretkovém sportu dochází k asymetrii flexibility dolních končetin. Pokud bude zjištěna asymetrie flexibility dolních končetin, tak druhým cílem bude zjistit, o jak velký rozdíl ve flexibilitě mezi dolními končetinami jde. Metoda: Studie se zúčastnilo 15 participantů, 100% dívky, ve věku 10-15 let (? 13,13, SD = ? 1,54 let). Participanti se věnují průměrně 4 roky mažoretkovému sportu s frekvencí tréninků dva za týden a délkou jednoho tréninku 90 minut. Flexibilita dolních končetin byla hodnocena podle tabulky od Mezinárodní gymnastické federace - Baterie testů flexibility dolních končetin (FIG, 2010), která obsahuje celkem 7 cviků. Bodové hodnocení 0-4 je na základě obrázků v tabulce. Konkrétně 0 = velmi špatný, 1 = špatný, 2 = průměrný, 3 = dobrý a 4 = výborný. Každý participant byl natočen na video a vybrán nejvyšší možný rozsah daného cviku. Výsledky: Všech 15 participantů dokončilo sérii testů. Preference strany ve flexibilitě dolních končetin bylo 5:10 (pravá:levá). Bylo zjištěno, že v mažoretkovém sportu se vyskytuje asymetrie dolních končetin. Rozdíl flexibility dolních končetin mezi dominantní a nedominantní dolní končetinou byl statisticky významný u šesti ze sedmi cviků. Závěr: Vzhledem ke zjištěným výsledkům je důležité dbát v mažoretkovém sportu na správné pohybové návyky, které nebudou podporovat zvyšování asymetrie flexibility dolních končetin.

Abstract:

This work deals with asymmetry in the flexibility of the lower limbs. In majorette sport we often see that girls prefer one lower limb that they have more range on than the other lower limb. In many sports, great emphasis is placed on increased joint flexibility. However, hypermobility can exceed the physiological limit and thus become a risk factor for injuries. Majorettes is one of the sports where flexibility plays an important role. Proper sports training can be a prevention against the unwanted effects of hypermobility. Aim: The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to find out whether there is asymmetry in the flexibility of the lower limbs in majorette sport. If an asymmetry in the flexibility of the lower limbs is detected, the second goal will be to find out how big the difference in flexibility between the lower limbs is. Method: 15 participants took part in the study, 100 % girls, aged 10-15 years (? 13.13, SD = ? 1.54 years). Participants have been involved in the majorette sport for an average of 4 years with a training frequency of two per week and the length of one training session being 90 minutes. Lower extremity flexibility was assessed according to the table from the International Gymnastics Federation - Lower Extremity Flexibility Test Battery (FIG, 2010), which contains a total of 7 exercises. The 0-4 point rating is based on the images in the table. Specifically, 0 = very poor, 1 = poor, 2 = average, 3 = good, and 4 = excellent. Each participant was videotaped and the highest possible range of the given exercise was selected. Results: All 15 participants completed a series of tests. Side preference in lower limb flexibility was 5:10 (right:left). Lower extremity asymmetry has been found to occur in the sport of majorette. The difference in lower extremity flexibility between the dominant and non-dominant lower extremity was statistically significant for six of the seven exercises. Conclusion: In view of the results found, it is important to pay attention to the correct movement habits in the majorette sport, which will not support an increase in the asymmetry of the flexibility of the lower limbs.
