Impact of economic crisis on behavior change of the hotel manager

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to assess whether the economic crisis affects the change in behavior of the selected hotel manager due to economic instability in 2007-2016. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. Within the theoretical part, the three chapters describe the theoretical foundations of the economic crisis, the causes of its origin, the types of individual crises and the most famous crises that have so far broken out within the company. As well as the basic theoretical information on tourism and hotel industry is described, what the crisis impact on these sectors is, and the theoretical fundamentals of crisis management are described and what are the responsibilities of the crisis manager in resolving the crisis situation in various possible crisis situations. The practical part describes the survey methodology, which consisted of PEST analysis and questionnaire survey on a selected sample of respondents. The main hypothesis, as well as the individual working hypotheses, are defined. Individual identifiers are defined too. Finally, the results of the survey and the PEST analysis are presented, as well as certain measures that can be used in practice.

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto diplomovej práce je posúdiť, či ekonomická kríza má vplyv na zmenu chovania vybraného hotelového manažéra z dôvodu ekonomickej nestability v rokoch 2007-2016. Diplomová práca je rozdelená do dvoch častí, teoretickej a praktickej. V rámci teoretickej časti sú v troch kapitolách popísané teoretické základy ekonomickej krízy, príčiny jej vzniku, typy jednotlivých kríz a najznámejšie doterajšie krízy, ktoré v rámci spoločnosti doteraz vypukli. Ďalej sú popísané základné teoretické informácie o cestovnom ruchu a hotelierstve, aký má možný dopad kríza na tieto odvetvia a tiež sú popísané teoretické základy krízového manažmentu a aké sú povinnosti krízového manažéra pri riešení krízovej situácie v rôznych možných krízových situáciách. V praktickej časti je popísaná metodika prieskumu, ktorý pozostával z PEST analýzy a dotazníkového prieskumu na vybranej vzorke respondentov. Je stanovená hlavná hypotéza a tiež jednotlivé pracovné hypotézy a zároveň sú definované jednotlivé identifikátory. Na záver sú prezentované výsledky vykonaného prieskumu a vykonanej PEST analýzy a tiež sú navrhnuté určité opatrenia, ktoré je možné použiť v praxi.
