The possibility of extending the hotel network abroad

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo komparovat nejvýznamnější hotelové sítě v České republice a zhodnotit jejich budoucí vývoj v rámci možné expanze do zahraničí. Byla stanovena hypotéza, že české hotelové sítě mají velmi malou šanci na expanzi do zahraničí. V závěru byla tato hypotéza vyvrácena s tím, že některé zkoumané hotelové sítě již svoji expanzi úspěšně provedli. Teoretická část práce se vysvětluje základním pojmům, jako jsou hotelová síť a Management Company, a dále popisuje historii a vznik hotelnictví jako takového. Nedílnou součástí je základní charakteristika pěti největších hotelových řetězců světa a třech základních smluvních ujednání, na základě kterých funguje dnešní hotelový byznys. V rámci analytické části jsou do detailů popsány a následně srovnány největší hotelové sítě v České republice a dvě společnosti ze zahraničí. K získání pohledu z druhé strany jsou dále uvedeny výsledky a závěry z osobních rozhovorů s představiteli investorů do hotelových nemovitostí a bankovních institucí. V závěru analytické části je zpracována PEST analýza rakouského trhu. V poslední, návrhové části, diplomové práce je popsán skutečný příklad expanze české hotelové sítě do zahraničí, včetně návrhu vhodného řešení.

Abstract:

The aim of this work was to compare the most important hotel networks in the Czech Republic and to evaluate their future development in the context of possible expansion abroad. A hypothesis has been made that Czech hotel networks have a very low chance of expanding abroad. In conclusion, this hypothesis was refuted, as some of the hotel networks under review has already successfully expanded. The theoretical part of the thesis is explained by the basic concepts, such as the hotel network and the Management Company, and also describes the history and the emergence of the hotel industry as such. An integral part is the basic characteristics of the five largest hotel chains in the world and the three basic contractual arrangements underpinning today's hotel business. Within the analytical part, the largest hotel networks in the Czech Republic and two companies from abroad are described and compared in detail. To gain insight from the other side, the outcomes and conclusions of personal interviews with representatives of investors in hotel real estate and banking institutions are also presented. At the end of the analytical part, the PEST analysis of the Austrian market is processed. The last part of the diploma thesis describes a real example of an expansion of the Czech hotel network abroad, including the proposal of a suitable solution.
