Rozvoj metod molekulární biologie přináší nové možnosti v detekci Treponema pallidum, původce syfilis. Treponema pallidum je nekultivovatelný patogen a molekulární detekce je tak vhodným doplněním standardní diagnostiky, která je prováděna převážně sérologicky. The development of methods of molecular biology opens new possibilities to detect Treponema pallidum, the causative agent of syphilis. Treponema pallidum is a noncultivable pathogen and the molecular detection represents a promising supplementation of the standard serological diagnostic methods.
