Recovery of Historical Memory in the novel Mala gente que camina: the lost children of Franco

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis studies the issues of the thefts and illegal adoptions of children during the dictatorship period of Francisco Franco in Spain, especially in the 1940s, and their projection in literature. We compare verified historical facts, which are introduced in the first part of the thesis, with the passages from the novel Mala gente que camina by the Spanish writer Benjamín Prado. We interpret the created image of these events in the novel, whether the author follows the real events or he is only inspired by them. Everything is studied primarily on the important characters who appear in the novel.

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá tématem krádeží a nezákonných adopcí dětí v období diktatury Francisca Franca ve Španělsku, konkrétně ve čtyřicátých letech dvacátého století, zobrazením tohoto jevu. Porovnáváme ověřená historická fakta, která jsou představena v první části práce, s úryvky románu Mala gente que camina od španělského spisovatele Benjamína Prada. Interpretujeme vytvořený obraz těchto událostí v románu, sledujeme, zda se autor striktně drží skutečnosti nebo se jí pouze inspiruje. Vše zkoumáme především na důležitých postavách, které se v tomto díle objevují.
