Brownfields revitalization and functions of towns

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zahrnuje analýzu revitalizace části bývalého továrního areálu firmy Baťa ve Zlíně ve vazbě na vznik nových funkcí města. Analyzuje jednotlivé projekty revitalizace konkrétních budov a vyhodnocuje, jaký měly vliv na vzhled a funkce města a zda přispěly k rozvoji města a jak konkrétně. Cílem práce je vyhodnotit efektivitu a úspěšnost revitalizace vybraných brownfields ve Zlíně, posoudit jejich vliv na vznik nových funkcí města a získat odpověď na otázku - „Jaké dopady měly revitalizace vybraných brownfields a co nového přinesly městu Zlín?“ Výsledkem práce je zjištění, že revitalizace vybraných brownfields měly pozitivní vliv na rozvoj samotného Baťova areálu, ale i na rozvoj města. Zapříčinily vznik nových funkcí areálu, města, přísun nových ekonomických aktivit a služeb do areálu. Díky projektům brownfields má město Zlín potenciál stát se moderním a kulturním centrem regionu. Z práce vyplývá, že pokud budou projekty revitalizací probíhat i nadále současným způsobem, rozvoj Baťova areálu bude pokračovat i v budoucnu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis includes analysis of the Tomas Bata factory compound revitalization in Zlín in connection with a new town function. The thesis analyses revitalization projects of the chosen buildings and evaluates the impacts on the town appearance and function and evaluates town development. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the effectiveness and success of the brownfields revitalization in Zlín. The thesis asks the question – „Did the revitalization influence the town Zlín and how?“ The thesis finds out, that the revitalization of the chosen buildings had positive impacts on Bata´s factory compound and also on the town Zlín. The revitalization caused new function origin of the factory compound and the town Zlín, caused new economic aktivities origin and new services. Because of the revitalization projects the town Zlín has the potential to be a modern town and cultural centre of the region. The thesis concludes, that if the revitalization projects will go on in that way, development of the Bata´s factory compound will go on in the future.
