Effects of supply shocks on the automotive industry 2019-2022 and implications for economic policy

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na dopady pandemie COVID-19 na mikroekonomii výrobního průmyslu automobilů a čipů a na dopady na agregátní nabídku v AD-AS modelu v období 2019-2022 s důrazem na rozlišení přechodných a perzistentních dopadů. Teoretická část se zabývá vzájemnou závislostí daných odvětví a jejich mikroekonomií. Současně je hovořeno o teorii dodavatelského řetězce automobilů a teorii AD-AS modelu. Praktická část je zaměřena na dopady na agregátní nabídku a doporučení IMF. Dále se práce zabývá analýzou navršení krize čipů neboli fenoménem “perfektní bouře” v daném kontextu. V návaznosti na AD-AS model je výzkum zaměřen na analýzu makroekonomického prostředí se zaměřením na automobilový průmysl a řeší původ odvětvové inflace, nezaměstnanost a dopady na technologie a inovace v kontextu elektromobility. Dále je analyzován vývoj světové nabídky automobilů v jednotlivých letech zkoumaného období. Finální část práce je zaměřena na léčebné metody automobilového průmyslu a na hospodářskopolitické konsekvence ekonomických šoků.

Abstract:

This Bachelor's thesis focuses on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the microeconomics of the automotive and chip manufacturing industry and the impacts on aggregate supply in the AD-AS model over the period 2019-2022, with an emphasis on distinguishing between transitory and persistent impacts. The theoretical section examines the interdependence of the industries and their microeconomics. At the same time, automotive supply chain theory and the theory of the AD-AS model are discussed. The practical part focuses on the implications for aggregate supply and the IMF recommendations. Furthermore, the paper analyses the build-up of the chip crisis or the "perfect storm" phenomenon in the given context. Following the AD-AS model, the research focuses on the analysis of the macroeconomic environment with a focus on the automotive industry and addresses the origins of sectoral inflation, unemployment and the implications for technology and innovation in the context of electromobility. Furthermore, the evolution of the world automotive supply in each year of the period under study is analysed. The final part of the paper focuses on the treatment of the automotive industry and the economic policy implications of economic shocks.
