Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměruje na nejčastější výslovnostní chyby českých mluvčích angličtiny. Tyto chyby zahrnují především špatnou výslovnost některých hlásek, chybné nebo chybějící aspekty souvislého projevu, např. větný přízvuk. Předmětem práce byla otázka,které z těchto nejčastějších chyb způsobují, že čeští mluvčí angličtiny "znějí" česky a nikoliv anglicky. Práce je založena na chybách sebraných v seminářích a na chybách z nahrávek pořízených se studenty angličtiny. Výsledky ukazují, že nejproblematičtější oblastí jsou aspekty souvislého projevu.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on fossilized pronunciation errors of Czech speakers of English. Typically, these errors include mispronunciation of certain consonants, devoicing and erroneous or missing aspects of connected speech such as sentence stress and rhythm, weak and strong forms, liaison, assimilation and elision. The research question is which of the fossilized errors prevent Czech speakers of English from sounding native-like. The thesis is based on errors collected in seminars and on recordings made with students of English. The errors are analyzed, the results evaluated and conclusions drawn. It is shown that aspects of connected speech are those pronunciation features that prevent Czech speakers from achieving the rhythmic quality of English language.
