From Molière to BuranTeatr – a reflection of theatre tragicomic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce propojila dvě obtížné estetické kategorie, tragiku a komiku, v ještě více sporný pojem – divadelní tragikomiku. Předmětem této studie je problém její žánrové identity. Cílem není podat přesnou definici, ale ukázat různé interpretace a podívat se na její průnik do některých vážných nebo komických oblastí. Více se pohybujeme na území komiky, kde je společné zesměšnění, a hlavně krajní polohy mimo oblast komična. Pracujeme s předpokladem Zdeňka Hořínka, že pokud prvek vážnosti v satiře překročí jistou mez, stává se dílo tragikomické. Jelikož žádná teorie neurčuje danou mez, přiklonili jsme se k většinovému poměru. Tragikomika je součástí teoretické části této práce. V praktické části je hlavním objektem zkoumání Molierova specifická komika, až tragikomika, kterou klasicismus podle daných pravidel zařadil mezi komedie. Pomocí rozboru žánrově těžko definovaných Molierových her (Tartuffe, Don Juan aneb Kamenná hostina, Misantrop) se snažíme zjistit, zda v některé z nich prvek vážnosti překračuje komiku, tak, abychom mohli označit dílo za tragikomické. Naopak divadlo BuranTeatr představuje současnou tragikomiku, kde je míchání tragiky a komiky žádoucí. Analýza vybraných děl (Obraz, Amazonie, Skleněný zvěřinec) slouží k určení formy, kterou brněnské divadlo používá. Samostatná kapitola je vyčleněna pro rozbor Molierova Misantropa v BuranTeatru. Komparací původního dramatického textu se současným zpracováním hledáme rozdíl v tragikomickém pojetí stejného námětu. V závěru se tato práce snaží o odhalení existujících vazeb divadelní činnosti Moliera s divadelní praxí BuranTeatru.

Abstract:

Two difficult esthetical categories are connected in this study: tragic and comic in one even more controversial term – theatre tragicomic. The topic of my dissertation is its ambiguous definition. The aim is not to give the exact definition but to show various interpretations and to analyse some parts of serious or comical spheres. We are more in the comical sphere, where is typical ridiculing, and mainly in outside position out of the comics. We work with Zdeněk Hořínek´s assumption that if seriousness exceeds certain limit, the work becomes tragicomic. As no theory gives the exact limit, we accept the majority opinion. Tragicomic belongs to the theoretical part of our work. The main topic of the practical part is Molier´s specific comic up to tragicomic which was classified as comedies according to the rules in the Classicism. Using analysis of hardly literary genre defined Molier´s plays we find out if the seriousness exceeds the comic. Then this play can be denoted as tragicomic. BuranTeatr theatre represents contemporary tragicomic, where mixing of tragic and comic is required. To determine form which Brno´s theatre uses we analyse the chosen plays. One chapter deals with analysis of Molier´s Misantrop at BuranTeatre. We try to find out the difference in tragicomic interpretation by comparing the original dramatic version with the contemporary version. We try to show connection between Moliere´s theatre activity and BuranTeatr´s realisation in the conclusion.
