Utilization of Experimental Economics for Business Economy Problems

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá aplikací experimentální ekonomie v podnikové ekonomice. Autor práce si klade celkem tři cíle. Nejprve se snaží charakterizovat oblast experimentální ekonomie včetně jejího historického vývoje a shrnout základní metodologii při návrhu a realizaci ekonomických experimentů. V další části práce autor analyzuje možnosti využití experimentální ekonomie v podnikové ekonomice. Nakonec představuje classroom experiment, který realizoval společně s kolegy na Fakultě ekonomické Západočeské univerzity v Plzni. Experiment byl zaměřen na vyváženou dopravní úlohu. Záměrem experimentátorů bylo získat decentralizované řešení tohoto problému prostřednictvím tržní interakce a toto řešení následně porovnat s optimálním řešením a s dalšími dvěma přípustnými řešeními získanými pomocí heuristických metod. Výsledky experimentu ukázaly, že decentralizované řešení dopravní úlohy vede k dosažení nízkých celkových dopravních nákladů blízkým optimu, přičemž zvolený typ aukce nemá na tento výsledek žádný vliv.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with application of experimental economics in business economy. The author proposes a total of three goals. First goal, the author tries to characterize the field of experimental economics, including its historical development and also summarizing the basic methodology for the design and implementation of economic experiments. In the second goal, he analyzes the possibility of using experimental economics in the business economy. The last goal, author presents classroom experiment, which he completed with colleagues at the Faculty of Economics University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The experiment researched balanced transportation problem. The intention of the experimental team was to get a solution of this problem through market interaction, and then compare the solution with the optimal solution and two other solutions obtained using heuristic methods. The results of the experiment showed that a decentralized solution obtained lead to achieving low transport costs which are close to optimum, to note any selected type of auction does not affect the result.
