The British and French Model of Education on Universities of the Third Age

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá dvěma vzdělávacími modely, podle kterých jsou vedeny výuky na univerzitách třetího věku. Jedná se o francouzský a britský model vzdělávání. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. Cílem teoretické části práce je objasnit pojmy stáří a změny se stářím spojené, dále vzdělávání seniorů, funkce, cíle a možné překážky, na které mohou uchazeči o studium narazit a vznik a vývoj vzdělávacích modelů univerzit třetího věku. Cílem praktické části je zjistit, jaká jsou specifika studentů univerzity třetího věku v Ostravě, která využívá francouzský model vzdělávání, z hlediska jejich dosaženého vzdělání, profese a motivace ke studiu, v jakých oblastech zaznamenali zlepšení díky zahájení studia a jaké změny by uvítali pro zlepšení podmínek studia. Pro výzkumné šetření byl vytvořený a následně použitý dotazník vlastní konstrukce, inspirovaný použitým dotazníkem v disertační práci od Hebestreit (2006). Šetření bylo provedeno u seniorů, kteří studují univerzitu třetího věku v Ostravě na pedagogické fakultě. Při představení výsledků a jejich interpretací bylo využito výstupů z uvedené disertační práce, která se zabývala britským modelem vzdělávání. V závěru práce jsou představeny výsledky pomocí grafů a tabulek.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focusing on two different models of education, which are used to teach elderly. The models are called French model and British model. The bachelor thesis is divided in two parts. The first part is theoretical, the goal of this part is to explain the key worlds as an elderly, the changes in elderly, education of elderly people, the functions goals and barriers, which can be met by elderly people. The last part of theoretical part is development of educations models on third ages universities. The goal of the practical part is to find what are the specifics of the students on the university of the third age in Ostrava. In the Ostrava is used the French model of education. The thesis is focusing on the education level, the work before retirement and motivation of the student. The other task is to find the areas, where the student has improved their skills and if the student proposed any area where the U3A could be improved. The research was inspired by survey which is mentioned in the dissertation thesis of Heberstreit (2006). The research was done on student of the Pedagogical department of the University of Ostrava. The Heberstreit's dissertation thesis was used as a model to interpreting the results. In the end of the thesis are the results shown in form of graphs and tables.
