The state as a social contract

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zaměřuje na historické koncepty státu jako společenské smlouvy v dílech novověkých filozofů Thomase Hobbese, Johna Locka a Jeana Jacquese Rousseaua s důrazem na pojetí přirozeného stavu a vizi ideální formy státu. Druhá část práce se snaží postihnout problematiku strukturální přeměny veřejnosti v díle Jürgena Habermase a její východiska pro společnost. Cílem práce je předložit ucelenou analýzu odlišných přístupů v otázce státu jako společenské smlouvy a nastínit možné využití tématu ve výuce na základních školách.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is focused on the historical concepts of the state as a social contract in the work of modern philosophers Thomas Hobbes, John Locke and Jean Jacques Rousseau. The emphasis is placed on the concept of the natural state and vision of the ideal form of the state. The second part of the diploma thesis describes the problem of structural transformation of the public sphere in the work of Jürgen Habermas and the starting – points for the society. The aim of this diploma thesis is to present the comprehensive analysis of the different approaches of the issue of the state as a social contract and outline possible use of the topic in teaching at elementary school.
