Anotácia:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá aktuální problematikou uměleckých strategií v oblasti modifikace a vytváření hudebních nástrojů s využitím postupů hardware hacking a circuit bending. První část se soustředí na historické a kulturní konotace a zároveň poukazuje na vývoj a druhy modifikace hudebních nástrojů, včetně představení hlavních hudebních stylů pro postupy hardware hackingu. Hlavní tématická část se odvíjí od osobnosti Nicolase Collinse a jeho výrazného uměleckého, teoretického i praktického přispění do oblasti hardwarové modifikace a vzniku elektronických hudebních nástrojů. Dominantní roli v těchto postupech hraje využití strategie Do It Yourself, technika improvizace a zasazení zvuků/ruchů do hudební koncepce. Práce se zaměřuje na aktuální reflexi těchto uměleckých postupů, které nabývají stále více na oblibě, ať už je tomu tak z důvodu finanční nenáročnosti potřebného materiálu nebo absence nutnosti odborných znalostí z oboru elektrotechnického inženýrství.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with current issues of art strategies in the area of modification and creation of musical instruments with the use of hardware hacking and circuit bending. The first part focuses on historical and cultural connotations and at the same time it points at the development and types of modification of musical instruments, including the introduction of main musical styles for the hardware hacking methods. The main thematic part revolves around the personage of Nicolas Collins and his distinctive artistic, theoretical and practical contribution to the field od hardware modification and creation of electronic musical instruments. Use of the Do It Yourself strategy, a techinque of improvization and embedding of sounds/noises into musical concept, plays a dominant role in these methods. The work addresses current reflexion of these artistic methods which are now gaining more and more popularity, may it be for its low financial demands on required material or for absence of necessity of knowledge in the field of electronic engineering.
