Abstract:

Práce se zabývá především otázkou reprezentace muslimů a muslimství v českých médiích. Jedná se přitom a první krok rozsáhlejšího výzkumu, který bude proveden v rámci mé magisterské práce. Tato bakalářská práce má sloužit jako zmapování terénu, kterým je mediální pole, v rámci něhož je konstruována reprezentace muslimů. Samotná práce je rozdělena na dvě části. V první z nich je ukázána reprezentace muslimů a muslimství ukázána na základě analýzy článků a následných diskuzí týkajících se stavby nové mešity v Brně, které byly uveřejněny na internetových stránkách brněnského Deníku. Na základě této analýzy bylo identifikováno několik kategorií, které jsou používány pro reprezentaci muslimství. Tyto kategorie mezi něž patři problematika odlišnosti (ztělesněné minaretem), obavy z terorismu a fanatismu, otázka lidských práv a přístupu k ženám, či muslimství jako synonymum zaostalosti a nemodernosti, jsou na základě analýzy textů podrobně rozebírány. Druhá část práce se věnuje teoretickým konceptům sloužícím k vysvětlení pozorovaných jevů a dochází k diskuzi relevantnosti v dnešní době již klasického Saidova konceptu orientalismu.

Abstract:

This thesis reflects mainly the question of Muslim and Muslimhood representation in the Czech media. It can be considered as the first step leading to more extend research, which will be done as my master thesis. The purpose of this thesis is mainly to map the medial field in which is constructed the Muslimhood representation. The thesis itself is divided into two parts. In the first of them is shown the representation of Muslims and Musslimhood on the basis of text analysis. The analyzed texts are articles and discussions published on web site of daily newspaper called Deník. The considered topic which created a referential frame for the analysis is the new mosque in Brno. Due to the topic, only Brno edition of Denik was analyzed. This analysis identified several categories in which are the Muslims perceived. These categories like representation of difference, fear of terrorism, question of human rights, women issues or Muslimhood as antonym of modernity, are described in details in the first part of the thesis. The second part is focused on theoretical concepts, which can be used to explain observed situation. In this part is also discussed question of relevance of today already classical Said’s concept of Orientalism.
