Abstract:
Ergosterol is the main sterol of most fungi. Production of active oxygen species, pH changes, alkalinization of medium, changes in ion fluxes and production of phytoalexins were observed after the ergosterol uptake. Ergosterol is able to trigger a defence reaction even in nano-molar concentration in tobacco cells by expression of acidic forms of PR proteins and accumulation of salicylic acid. On the …more
