Architecture Design of an E-Commerce Logistics System

Abstract:

Tato práce představuje návrh nové backendové architektury pro logistický systém společnosti zabývající se e-commerce. Práce začíná komplexním přehledem moderních softwarových architektur, návrhových vzorů a principů, po kterém následuje hloubková analýza stávajícího monolitického systému s cílem identifikovat jeho současné případy použití a omezení. Hlavním cílem bylo vytvořit řešení, které umožní bezproblémovou integraci různých technologií napříč nezávisle škálovatelnými komponentami. Návrh řeší omezení staršího systému přijetím moderních architektonických vzorů, technologií a osvědčených postupů se zaměřením na udržovatelnost, škálovatelnost, a modularitu. Pro ověření navrhovaného řešení byl proveden test konceptu (PoC). a navržená architektura otestována v reálném scénáři. Efektivita nové architektury byla potvrzena prostřednictvím praktické implementace. V závěru práce je porovnán koncept nového systému se starší architekturou a zdůrazňuje klíčová zlepšení, kterých bylo dosaženo, díky modernizaci.

Abstract:

This thesis presents the design of a new backend architecture for the logistics system of an e-commerce company. The work begins with a comprehensive survey of modern software architectures, design patterns, and principles, followed by an in-depth analysis of the existing monolithic system to identify its current use cases and limitations. The primary objective was to create a solution that enables seamless integration of different technologies across independently scalable components. The proposed design addresses the limitations of the legacy system by adopting modern architectural patterns, technologies, and the best practices, with a focus on maintainability, scalability, and modularity. To validate the proposed solution, a proof of concept (PoC) was developed and proposed architecture tested in a real-world scenario. The effectiveness of the new architecture was confirmed through this practical implementation. Finally, the thesis compares the new system with the legacy architecture, highlighting key improvements achieved through modernization.
