Awareness of Girls about Menstrual Cycle

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je informovanost dívek o menstruačním cyklu. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části, teoretickou a praktickou. Část teoretická se za pomocí odborné literatury uceleně zaměřuje zejména na anatomii vnitřních pohlavních orgánů, na popis fyziologie menstruačního cyklu a jeho fází a na patologie, se kterými se dívky mohou potýkat, jakými jsou např. dysmenorea, amenorea atp. Dílčí kapitoly popisují též fyzické i psychické změny u dospívajících dívek a menstruační pomůcky. Praktická část je založena na kvantitativním průzkumu provedeném formou on-line dotazníku, který má za cíl ověřit znalosti dívek o menstruačním cyklu včetně jeho fyziologie, ale také zjistit, jak menses vnímají a zda mají povědomí o menstruačních pomůckách. Po vyhodnocení výsledků následuje několik závěrů, které poukazují na nedostatečné vzdělání mladých dívek.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on awareness of menstrual cycle. It is divided in two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part uses academic literature to deal with anatomy of internal carnal organs and describe physiologal menstrual cycle including its phases and basic pathologies that girls can come across such as dysmenorea or amenorea. Some chapters are devoted to physical and psychological changes of adolescent girls and description of menstrual aids. The practical part of thesis uses an on-line questionaire consisting of 15 questions as a form of quantitative research to verify the level of knowledge on physiological menstrual cycle and its physiology among adolescent girls. The aim is also to find out what their view of menses is and if girls are well aware of menstrual aids. After evaluating results, multiple outlines are presented. Those show that the education of adolescent girls on these topics is insufficient.
