Position of Ukraine in the geopolitical perspective of the Russian Federation

Abstract:

For the Russian federation Ukraine is a very important partner. The relations between both countries are very intensive. A lot of problematic issues exist like the status of the Russian language, Ukraine´s energy dependence on Russia, dislocation of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea. The relations are evolving in time and the Russian approach towards the Western partner is changing as well. The thesis deals with the Russian foreign Ukrainian policy and with contemporary Russian geopolitics, represented mainly by the school of (Neo)eurasianism. The text aims at finding the possible connection between contemporary Russian geopolitical thinking and the Russian foreign policy towards the Ukraine.

Abstract:

Ukrajina je pre Ruskú federáciu veľmi významným partnerom. Vzťahy medzi oboma štátmi sú veľmi intenzívne. Existuje veľa problematických bodov, postavenie ruského jazyka, energetická závislosť Ukrajiny, prítomnosť ruskej flotily atď. Vzťahy prechádzajú vývojom a v čase sa mení aj ruský prístup k západnému partnerovi. Diplomová práca sa zaoberá jednak faktickej ruskej politike voči Ukrajine, ale aj súčasnej ruskej geopolitike, reprezentovanej predovšetkým eurazianizmom. Cieľom práce je pokúsiť sa nájsť prepojenie medzi myšlienkami súčasnej ruskej geopolitiky a ruskou zahraničnou politikou voči Ukrajine.
