Attachment and conflict style in romantic relationships

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá souvislostmi mezi konfliktními styly jedinců v partnerském vztahu a citovou vazbou v partnerském vztahu a souvislostmi mezi konfliktními styly jedinců v partnerském vztahu a citovou vazbou jedince k matce a otci. Výzkumný záměr diplomové práce vychází z předpokladu, že citová vazba k partnerovi má vliv na konfliktní styl v partnerském vztahu. Výzkumná část práce ověřuje citovou vazbu respondenta k partnerovi/partnerce, citovou vazbu k otci a citovou vazbu k matce a dále preferenci konfliktních stylů respondenta v partnerském vztahu a preferenci konfliktních stylů matky a preferenci konfliktních stylů otce v partnerských vztazích. Konfliktní styly v jednotlivých vztazích jsou měřeny dotazníkem The Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (Thomas & Killman, 1974), pro měření citové vazby k partnerovi/partnerce a rodičům byl použit dotazník The Experiences in Close Relationships - The Relational Structures (Fraley et al., 2011). Souvislosti jsou ověřovány na vzorku respondentů ve věku 20 až 30 let žijících minimálně 6 měsíců se svým partnerem/partnerkou ve společné domácnosti. Výsledky výzkumu nepotvrdily souvislost mezi konfliktními styly v partnerských vztazích a citovou vazbou k partnerovi. Výsledky nepotvrdily ani souvislost mezi konfliktními styly v partnerských vztazích a citovou vazbou k matce a otci. Výsledky ukázaly na predikci přizpůsobivého konfliktního stylu v partnerském vztahu pomocí přizpůsobivého konfliktního stylu otce a kompromisního konfliktního stylu matky a na predikci míry vyhýbavosti k otci pomocí přizpůsobivého, spolupracujícího a kompromisního konfliktního stylu otce.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with connection between conflict style of romantic relationship's partners and adult attachment style and conflict style of romantic relationship's partners and attachment style with parents. Research goal of diploma thesis result from assumption that adult attachment style influnces conflict style in romantic relationship. Research part of this thesis measures adult attachment style in romantic relationship, attachment style to father and attachment style to mother and respondent's conflict style in romantic relationship and father's and mother's conflict style in their romantic relationship. For the measurement of the attachment style in romantic relationships has been used The Experiences in Close Relationships - The Relational Structures (Fraley et al., 2011) measuring attachment style on dimensional level and The Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (Thomas & Killman, 1974) measuring conflict styles in romantic relationships. Connection has been tested on sample of respondents 20 to 30 years old living together with romantic partner at least 6 months. The results did not verify theoretical presumptions about conflict style in romantic relationship and attachment style in romantic relationship and conflict style in romantic relationship and attachment style to father and mother. Results indicate on partial prediction of accommodating conflict style in romantic relationship by father's accommodating conflict style and by mother's compromising conflict style and partial prediction of avoidance dimension to the father by father's accommodating, collaborating and compromising conflict style.
