The ways of presenting the Jewish collective memory in art

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je zdůraznit způsoby uměleckého zpracování židovské kolektivní paměti. Vycházíme z narativní podmíněnosti židovské kolektivní paměti. V tomto kontextu se zajímáme o příběhy Starého zákona a holocaustu. Z toho vyplývá, že pracujeme s dynamickým vztahem mezi veřejnými a soukromými příběhy. Způsob vyprávění Starého zákona chápeme jako ideologii, zatímco pro holocaust jsou stěžejní osobní příběhy. Velice důležitým aspektem naší práce je důraz na konzervativní přístup k zobrazování v židovské kultuře. Kritickou analýzu chápeme v této práci jako ústřední pro uměleckou presentaci holocaustu a tradičních židovských textů.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to point out the ways of art processing of the Jewish collective memory. We start from the narrative conditionality of the Jewish collective memory. In this context, we are interested in the stories of the Old Testament and the Holocaust. It follows that we work with the dynamic relationship between the public and private narratives. Narrative style of the Old Testament is understood as an ideology, while personal narratives are crucial for the Holocaust. A very important aspect of the work is the emphasis on the conservative approach to imaging in the Jewish culture. The critical analysis is understood, in this work, as central to the artistic presentation of the Holocaust and traditional Jewish texts.
