Evaluation of functional independence in patients after stroke with obesity after physiotherapy and occupational therapy

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce bylo posoudit vliv prováděné fyzioterapie a ergoterapie u pacientů po cévní mozkové příhodě s obezitou hospitalizovaných na Doléčovacím a rehabilitačním oddělení FN u sv. Anny v Brně, a to pomocí testu funkční míry nezávislosti (Functional Independence Measure, FIM). Sledovaný soubor vytvořený za účelem vypracování této diplomové práce tvořilo 30 pacientů po cévní mozkové příhodě s přidruženou obezitou prvního či druhého stupně. Výsledky této práci ukázaly, že dlouhodobě prováděná fyzioterapie a ergoterapie vedla k statisticky významnému zlepšení funkční nezávislosti u sledovaných pacientů. Sledovaný soubor pacientů zaznamenal statisticky významné zlepšení ve většině položek testu FIM. Současně v této práci nebyla prokázána závislost mezi vstupní hodnotou testu FIM a délkou hospitalizace pacientů.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the effect of a physiotherapy and occupational therapy at patients who both suffered from having had a stroke and obesity. These patients were hospitalized in DRO at the hospital of St. Anna of Faculty of Medicine in Brno. The effect was tested by using the Functional Independence Measure (FIM). Monitored sample of patients consisted of thirty patients who suffered both from a stroke and obesity of first or second grade. Results of this thesis have shown that undergoing the physiotherapy and occupational therapy over a long time of period lead to a statistical significant improvement in functional independence of monitored patients. There was also found a statistical significant improvement in most aspects of the FIM test. There wasn’t proved a correlation between the input data of the FIM test and the length of hospitalization of the patients.
