Passion, Remorse and Sense of Guilt in the Novels of Grazia Deledda

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor´s thesis is an effort to describe the main themes and motives of Grazia Deledda´s work, Nobel Prize in Literature winner, her ability of veristic capture of the reality of life of ordinary people in Sardinia. The main emphasis is placed on the portrayal of psychology and dramatic fates of priests in her novels Elias Portolu and La madre. The inner conflict of the main male characters, such as the fight with their own weakness is portrayed as the long-standing myth.

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je snaha přiblížit hlavní témata a motivy tvorby Grazie Deleddové, nositelky Nobelovy ceny za literaturu, její schopnost veristického zachycení reality života prostých lidí na Sardinii. Hlavní důraz je zde kladen na vykreslení psychologie a dramatických osudů kněžích v románech Elias Portolu a La madre. Vnitřní konflikt hlavních mužských postav, jako boj s vlastní slabostí, je v nich zobrazován jako odvěký mýtus.
