The character of Slavic society in the pre-Christian period (6th - 8th century)

Abstract:

Cílem vypracování této práce bylo popsat každodenní život obyčejného Slovana během období slovanské expanze a následně jejich usazování v zabraných územích. Tato období přinesla setkání a interakce se skupinami jako jsou Avaři, Byzantinci a Arabové. Práce se soustředí na schopnost Slovanů úspěšně reagovat na vnější vlivy ostatních národů. Popisuje jejich schopnost přizpůsobit se novým podmínkám a přijmout prvky z cizích kultur. Díky těmto vnějším vlivům byli například schopni vytvořit první kmenový svaz, který jim umožnil posílit jejich jednotu a zlepšit jejich schopnosti v boji i ve společenském uspořádání. Pomocí archeologickým nálezům dokážeme vhlédnout, jakým způsobem Slované využívali svá území. Ať to bylo pro obydlí, chov dobytka, sázení plodin, výstavbu hradišť nebo rituálních míst.

Abstract:

The aim in this work was to describe how everyday life of an ordinary Slav looked like during period of Slavic expansion and their subsequent settlement in the occupied territories. These periods brought encounters and interactions with groups such as the Avars, Byzantines and Arabs. The thesis focuses on the ability of the Slavs to successfully respond to external influences of other peoples. It describes their ability to adapt to new conditions and to adopt elements from foreign cultures. Thanks to these external influences, for example, they were able to form the first tribal union, which allowed them to strengthen their unity and to improve their abilities in combat and social organization. With help of archaeological finds, we can gain insight into how the Slavs used their territories. Whether it was for housing, cattle breeding, planting crops, building forts or ritual sites.
