Church songs created in the era before the battle of White Mountain included in the latest edition of a songbook of the Protestant Church of Czech Brethren

Abstract:

Závěrečná práce pojednává o písních z doby předbělohorské, které jsou obsaženy v posledním vydání zpěvníku Českobratrské církve evangelické, vydaného roku 1979. Provádí komparaci nápěvů i textů vybraných písní. K nalezení nápěvů v kancionálech využívá databázi Melodiarium a Škarkův soupis pramenů Hymnorum Thesaurus Bohemicus. Bylo zjištěno, že redaktoři současného zpěvníku čerpali podobu písní z původních pramenů a často je tak uvedena píseň ve své původní podobě. Byly také zkoumány tři současné zpěvníky jiných církví a nalezeny shody i rozdíly, nejdůkladněji jsou předbělohorské písně zapsány v kancionálu Mešní zpěvy vydaném poprvé roku 1990. Dnešní podoba předbělohorské duchovní písně ve zpěvnících je vytvářena záměrně na základě zkoumání původních pramenů

Abstract:

The final thesis discusses church songs created in the era before the battle of White Mountain and included in the latest edition of a songbook of the Protestant Church of Czech Brethren published in 1979. The thesis also compares melodies and lyrics of chosen songs. For finding the melodies in the hymn-books it uses the Melodiarium database and Škarka’s catalogue of sources called Hymnorum Thesaurus Bohemicus. It was found that editors of the contemporary songbook drew the form of songs from original sources and therefore songs are often presented in their original version. Three contemporary songbooks of other Churches were explored and similarities and differences were found. It was discovered that the songs from the period before the battle of White Mountain were inscribed on the most detailed way in the Mešní zpěvy hymnary which was first published in 1990. Today’s form of the spiritual songs from the period before the battle of White Mountain is deliberately created on the basis of the scrutiny of the original sources.
