Reintegration of single mothers from shelters into permanent forms of housing

Abstract:

Cílem této disertační práce je: "Popsat a porozumět tomu, jak se intersekcionalita oprese projevuje v naracích matek samoživitelek se zkušeností s pobytem v azylovém domě a jak tyto projevy mohou působit na proces jejich reintegrace do stabilního bydlení." Práce je teoreticky zarámovaná v antiopresivním přístupu, konkrétně pak v intersekcionalitě oprese, s níž se musí matky samoživitelky z azylových domů vyrovnávat. Matky bez domova jsou "znevýhodněnými ve svých znevýhodněních", jsou terčem tlaku ze strany společnosti jako ženy, matky, samoživitelky; jako lidé bez domova a často také z důvodu jejich etnické příslušnosti. Výzkumná část disertační práce je založena na participativním přístupu k výzkumu, konstruktivistické zakotvené teorii a tematické analýze přechodu "oběti" v "přeživšího". Výsledky výzkumu poukazují na to, že jsou opresivní mechanismy kontextem procesu reintegrace a ovlivňují všechny jeho součásti formou bariér reintegrace. Ve výsledném teoretickém zakotvení zjištěných dat je diskutováno téma antiopresivního přístupu v praxi v sociální práci a jeho možné akcelerační funkce ve vztahu k reintegraci matek bez domova.

Abstract:

The aim of this dissertation is: "To describe and understand how the intersectionality of oppression manifests itself in the narratives of single mothers with experience of staying in shelters and how these symptoms affect the process of reintegration into permanent housing." The work is theoretically framed in antiopressive approach, specifically in intersectionality of the oppression which single mothers in shelters have to cope with. Homeless mothers are "disadvantaged in their handicaps", are the target of pressure from the society as women, mothers, single parents; as homeless people and often because of their ethnicity. The research part of the dissertation is based on the participatory approach to research, the constructivist grounded theory and the thematic analysis of transition from "victim" to "survivor". The research results indicate that the oppressive mechanisms are the part of the context of reintegration process and affect all of its components in the form of barriers to reintegration. The topic of antiopressive approach in the practice of social work and its possible acceleration functions in relation to the reintegration of homeless mothers is discussed in final theoretical grounding of the observed data.
