Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce analyzuje dopad britské koloniální nadvlády v Indii mezi lety 1757 až 1876. Právě v tomto období začala Velká Británie vnímat Indii jako potenciální kolonii. Proces konsolidace britské moci v Indii trval přibližně sto let a zahrnoval řadu reforem v oblastech administrativy, kultury, náboženství i vzdělávání.

Abstract:

This thesis portrays the impacts of British colonial rule on Indian society and analyses the possible causes that led to the major changes in the selected period from 1757 to 1876. In this period of time the British changed their attitude toward India and began to picture it as a potential colony. Therefore, during these circa hundred years the major steps were taken in order to consolidate the British rule on the Indian subcontinent. In this thesis there are three branches depicted in more detail, in which the British influenced the Indian society most – administration, Christian proselytization and introduction of the British educational system.
