This thesis focuses on the white society’s appropriation of Black culture. The aim is to demonstrate how contemporary white-owned corporations and celebrity platforms use Black cultural aspects, which were formerly mocked during the early twentieth century Jim Crow, for their own financial profit, while racist stereotypes on African American temperament and behaviour still prevail.
