Macedonian folklore and its application in 20th century music

Abstract:

Tématikou této absolventské práce je makedonská kultura, makedonský folklor a jeho uplatnění ve vážně hudbě, hlavně ve 20. století. Kromě uvedených historických faktů týkajících se všeobecných dějin na území Makedonie, které pak ovlivnily i hudební dějiny, tato práce se věnuje i charakterizování přítomného folkloru v hudbě. Zaměřuje se i na klasifikaci významných hudebních osobností ve 20. století, ponořuje se do větších detailů a jejích působení a úspěchů v rámci komponování. Poslední kapitola této kvalifikační práce je výzkum a analýza několika klíčových děl tvorby vážné makedonské hudby z minulého století. Hlavní důraz této analýzy je ve vyskytování lidového folkloru v těchto dílech a jakým způsobem a jakými prostředky se podařilo těmto skladatelům implementovat národní duch ve své tvorbě.

Abstract:

The general theme of this bachelor’s thesis revolves around Macedonian culture, folklore, and its application in classical music, mainly in the 20. century. Alongside the historical facts about the history of Macedonia, which have therefore influenced the history of its music, this thesis is also devoted to the characterisation of the folklore elements found in Macedonian music. One of the many other focal points is the representation of the classical music genre in Macedonia- the author classifies all the important personas and goes into depth regarding their contribution in the realm of composition. The final chapter of this thesis is research and an analysis of a few key compositions from the last century. The main accent of the analysis is the implementation of the peoples’ folklore and the many successful ways these composers found to do so.
