The life stories of children from the children's care home

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá životy dětí, které v současné době vyrůstají v dětském domově. V teoretické části je pojednáno o vývoji jedince z hlediska celoživotního vývoje, potřebách dítěte, ale také rizicích, se kterými se dítě může v průběhu svého dětství setkat. Na cestě ke správnému vývoji hraje významnou roli sociální prostředí dítěte. V životě dětí, které jsou nyní umístěny v dětských domovech, sociální prostředí selhávalo. O podpůrných faktorech a možnostech intervence je pojednáno v závěru teoretické části. Cílem diplomové práce je porozumění zkušenosti života dětí, které jsou umístěny v dětském domově. K tomu byl ve výzkumném šetření použit narativní přístup. Bylo získáno pět autobiografických rozhovorů s dětmi ve věku 15 – 18 let, které v současné době žijí v dětském domově. K analýze rozhovorů byly postupně použity různé perspektivy narativní analýzy. Nejprve byly představeny rekonstrukce životních příběhů, dále byly identifikovány oblasti, které se prolínají v příbězích všech těchto dětí. Výsledky diplomové práce nám odkrývají jedinečnou zkušenost života dětí v dětském domově, poskytují bližší náhled na danou problematiku a nabízejí možnosti dalších edukačních a intervenčních přístupů uplatňovaných v dětských domovech.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is focused on the lives of children from the children’s care home. The theoretical part deals with a lifetime development and individual needs of a child, as well as the risks it can encounter in childhood. The social background is very important for the proper development of a child, yet social surroundings of children from children’s care homes are disturbed. Supportive factors and intervention possibilities are discussed in the final section of the theoretical part. The aim of the thesis is to understand the life experience of children from the children’s care home. The narrative approach was used for this research. Autobiographical narratives were obtained from five children from the children‘s care home (aged between 15 and 18 years). To analyse the narratives various perspectives were used in sequence. Firstly, the captured life courses of the children were introduced. Subsequently the parts which coincided in narratives of all the children were identified. The results of the diploma thesis discover unique experience of life in children’s care homes, bring near the issue of institutional care, and offer other possibilities of education and intervention approaches used in institutional care, particularly in children’s care homes.
