Process optimization by means of BI

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je najít efektivní strategii na optimalizaci procesu „analýzy Karyoty- pu u lidí“ u jedné konkrétní laboratorní společnosti ABC. První část práce popisuje teorii, konkrétně pojmy Business intelligence, proces, jeho mapování a optimalizace. Druhá část je zaměřená na praktickou část, kde se nejdříve řeší popis konkrétního procesu a jeho zdokumentování. Následně jsou určeny klí- čové ukazatele a vytvořen postup jejich těžení ze surových dat. Z vytěžených dat je vytvořena vizualizace pomocí nástrojů BI. Na základě této vizualizace je proces opti- malizován a provedeno porovnání s nově naměřenými daty k určení úspěšnosti změn ve společnosti.

Abstract:

The goal of this thesis is to find an effective strategy to optimize the process of "Karyotyping in humans" at one specific laboratory company ABC. The first part of this thesis describes its theory, specifically the concepts of Business intelligence, process, its mapping and optimization. The second part is focused on the practical part, where the description of a specific process and its documentation is first addressed. Subsequently, key indicators are determined and a procedure for extracting them from raw data is created. Visualizations are created from the extracted data using BI tools. Based on this visualization, the process is optimized and compared with newly measured data to determine the success of changes in the process.
