Capacity management process in a selected company

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá procesem řízení kapacit a jeho zlepšením. Řízení kapacit je nedílnou součástí efektivní práce se zdroji. Zdroje a jejich využití je propojeno s projektovým řízením. Pro efektivní řízení kapacit je důležité kapacity plánovat, průběžně sledovat a vyhodnocovat. Řešení kapacit ale bývá jedním z posledních priorit společností. Cílem diplomové práce je navrhnout zlepšení procesu řízení kapacit ve vybrané společnosti. V teoretické části práce jsou definovány klíčové pojmy, které souvisí s tématem práce, a to projekt, proces, procesní modelování, metodiky a notace. Dále je popsán framework pro analýzu procesů. V praktické části práce je představena vybraná organizace a popsán nástroj Microsoft Azure DevOps. Následně je provedena analýza procesu řízení kapacit ve vybrané společnosti. Součástí praktické části práce jsou rozhovory s klíčovými aktéry procesu. Dále jsou porovnávány nástroje pro podporu procesu řízení kapacit. V závěru práce jsou shrnuty všechny důležité poznatky a doporučeny návazné kroky.

Abstract:

The main topic of the diploma thesis is the capacity management process and its improvement. Capacity management is an integral part of effective resource management. Resources and their use are linked to project management. For effective capacity management, it is important to plan, monitor and evaluate the capacity on an ongoing basis. Capacity management, however, tends to be one of the last priorities of companies. Therefore, this thesis focuses on the capacity management process and its optimization in a selected company. The aim of the thesis is to propose an improvement of the capacity management process in a selected company. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the key concepts that are related to the topic of the work, the project, process, process modelling, methodologies and notation are defined. Also, framework for process analysis is described. The practical part of the thesis introduces the selected organization and describes the tool Microsoft Azure DevOps. Subsequently, the analysis of the capacity management process is performed in the selected company. The practical part of the thesis contains interviews with key stakeholders of the process. Furthermore, there is a comparison of tools that could be used for the capacity management process. At the end of the thesis, all important findings are summarized. The paper concludes by recommending the follow-up steps that should be taken.
