Occurrence of the field vole in the Kroměříž region

Abstract:

Výskyt hraboše polního – Microtus arvalis (Pallas, 1778) byl sledován na území okresu Kroměříž v letech 2019–2022. Monitoring probíhal na ozimé řepce, obilninách, vojtěšce, trvalých travních porostech, včetně ovocných sadů formou 4 průchodů transekty o šířce 2,5 m a délce 100 m. Při tom byl zaznamenáván počet aktivních východů z nor (AVN). Zjištěný počet byl vyjádřen na 1 ha a porovnán s prahem škodlivosti. Bylo zjištěno, že hraboš polní preferuje stanoviště s omezeným agrotechnickým zpracováním půdy, tedy bezorebný způsob přípravy půdy před setím nebo trvalé porosty, například tolici vojtěšku. Průměrná hodnota aktivních východů z nor na hektar za sledované období byla 3 704 AVN. Podle výsledků průzkumů byl potvrzen rok 2019 za gradační. Následující roky docházelo k postupnému poklesu průměrné hodnoty, v roce 2021 byl největší útlum, průměrná hodnota aktivních východů z nor na hektar byla 57. Na podzim 2022 došlo k opětovné progradaci, průměrná hodnota aktivních východů z nor na hektar na konci roku byla 9 833. Výsledky této práce potvrdily periodické rozmnožování hraboše polního v 2–4letých cyklech. Ze získaných hodnot lze odhadnout, že rok 2023 bude pravděpodobně rokem gradačním. Nelze s určitostí předpověď, v jaké oblasti a v jakém rozsahu přemnožení hraboše polního nastane či odezní.

Abstract:

The occurrence of the field vole – Microtus arvalis (Pallas, 1778) was monitored in the territory of the Kroměříž district in the years 2019–2022. The monitoring was carried out on winter wheat, cereals, alfalfa, permanent grassland, including orchards. Method is based on 4 passage 100 metres length with a width 2.5 metres and counting mouseholes. The number of active burrows exits (AVN) was recorded. The observed number was expressed per 1 ha and compared with the damage threshold. It was found that the field vole prefers habitats with limited agrotechnical tillage, i.e. no-till soil preparation before sowing or permanent crops such as tall alfalfa. The average value of active burrow exits per hectare for the period under study was 3 704. Based on the results of the surveys, 2019 was confirmed as a grading year. The following years saw a gradual decrease in the average value, with the largest decline in 2021, with an average value of active burrows exits per hectare of 57. In the fall of 2022 there was a re-programming, the average value of active burrow exits per hectare at the end of the year was 9,833. The results of this thesis confirmed the periodic reproduction of field vole in 2–4 year cycles. From the values obtained years before it can be estimated that 2023 is likely to be a gradation year. It is not possible to predict with certainty in which area is the over-breeding happen, also the damaging level is hard to predict.
