Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se věnuje významnému fenoménu západního divadla 20. století Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium/Odin Teatret. Divadlo Odin Teatret, založeno Italem Eugeniem Barbou v roce 1964 v Oslu, začínalo jako skupina amatérů a autodidaktiků. Krátce po svém vzniku přijalo nabídku usadit se v malém dánském provinčním městě Holstebro, které právě v té době zavedlo novou kulturní politiku. Zde divadlo změnilo svůj název na Odin Teatret/Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium for Skuespilkunst (Odin Teatret/Severská divadelní laboratoř pro herecké umění), jenž měl vyjadřovat ambice divadla věnovat se širšímu spektru aktivit na lokální, národní i mezinárodní úrovni. Díky svému profesionálnímu přístupu a jedinečnému způsobu práce si skupina brzy získala mezinárodní uznání a stala se jedním z předních divadelních souborů v Evropě, který v následujících dekádách představoval zdroj inspirace pro mnoho divadelních praktiků i teoretiků z celého světa. Odin Teatret, resp. NTL, dodnes působí v Holstebru, kde za téměř pět desítek let své existence dokázal vybudovat zcela mimořádné kreativní prostředí, otevřené mezinárodní i mezioborové spolupráci. Práce si klade za cíl představit tento jedinečný fenomén, jenž se výrazně zapsal do dějin divadla druhé poloviny 20. století, v celé jeho šíři. Práce je tematicky rozdělena na dvě části. První kapitoly jsou zaměřeny především na popis charakteru divadla a jeho nejvýznamnějších aktivit. Druhá část pak divadelní instituci zasazuje do kontextu dánského prostředí z pohledu kulturního, legislativního a ekonomického a zároveň i do kontextu lokálního. V neposlední řadě je zde charakterizován specifický způsob organizace a fungování této instituce.

Abstract:

The presented work deals with Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium/Odin Teatret as a significant phenomenon in western theatre of the 20th century. The theatre, founded by Italian Eugenio Barba in 1964 in Oslo, started as a group of amateurs and autodidacts. Shortly after its foundation the group accepted an offer to settle down in the little Danish provincial town of Holstebro, which at that time introduced a new cultural policy. Here the theatre changed its name to Odin Teatret/Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium for Skuespilkunst (Nordic Theatre Laboratory for the Art of Acting), which was supposed to express the theatre´s ambition to widen the classical field of theatre, and their will to devote themselves to a rich spectrum of activities on both local, national and international level. Due to their professional attitude and unique way of working, the group soon earned international acclaim. It became one of the front theatre groups in Europe which in the following decades represented a source of inspiration for many theatre practitioners and theorists. Today Odin Teatret/NTL is still active in Holstebro where through almost 50 years of activity it has managed to establish an extraordinary creative environment, open to international and interdisciplinary cooperation. The thesis aims to present, in all its width, this remarkable phenomenon which has gone down in history in the second half of the 20th century as one of the most influential theatres. The paper is divided into two parts. The initial chapters focus on the description of the theatre´s character and its most important activities. The second part puts the institution in context with the Danish environment from a cultural, legislative and economical point of view as well as a local milieu. Finally the specific form of the organisation and functioning of the institution is characterized.
