Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou soutěže Vesnice roku, pořádané v rámci Pro-gramu obnovy venkova. Nejdříve je vymezen pojem venkov a poté představen Program obnovy venkova, který je realizovaný v působnosti Ministerstva pro místní rozvoj ČR. Z tohoto programu je vybrána soutěž Vesnice roku.
