The development of British youth in 50s - 80s of the 20th century

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou subkulturních hnutí britské mládeže a snaží se vysvětlit, jaké příčiny vedly ke vzniku jednotlivých subkultur ve sledovaném období 50. - 80. let 20. století. Cílem práce je zaměření se na první subkultury a jejich historickou analýzu. Mezi první subkultury lze zařadit Teddy boys a Mods. Pozornost bude dále věnována subkultuře Skinheads.

Abstract:

This paper aims at defining meaning of subculture and explain three chosen subcultures as phenomenon, in post war Britan period. Youth appeared as an emergent category in post war Britan, one of the most striking and visible manifestation of social change in the period. It was signified as a social problem by the moral guardians of the society. Above all, youth played and important role as a cornerstone in the construction of understandings, interpretations and explanations about that time. Some subcultures, in our case Teddy boys, Mods and Skinheads formed up on the terrain of social and cultural life.
