Antonín Fencl's film poetics

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis aims to analyse the work of a film and theatre director Antonín Fencl. It focuses on his personality, professional career and the context of the Czech cinema at the beginning of the 20th century. The thesis presents two different comprehensive analyses of Fencl’s two surviving films Zlaté srdéčko and Pražští adamité. Both analyses pay attention to the way how narration is organized, to the smart work with plot lines, as well as to the use of available stylistic means that create a dynamic plot and maintain a viewer’s attention.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca analyzuje tvorbu divadelného a filmového režiséra Antonína Fencla s dôrazom na jeho osobnosť, profesnú kariéru a kontext českej kinematografie dna začiatku 20. storočia. Prináša dve odlišné analýzy Fenclových dvoch dochovaných filmov Zlaté srdéčko a Pražští adamité. Analýzy venujú pozornosť nielen spôsobu organizácie narácie a dômyselnej práci so syžetovými líniami, ale aj použitiu dostupných štylistických prostriedkov za účelom vytvorenia dynamickej zápletky a udržania divákovej pozornosti.
