"Sudeten German question" in the context of "Tyranny of the Present“ in writing of History

Abstract:

Ve své práci se zabývám postmoderními úvahami o psaní soudobé historie. Jedná se o výklad vycházející především z práce Roberta Gildea a Alya Aglan, kteří společně formulovali koncept „nadvlády přítomnosti“ v psaní o historii. V tomto kontextu se věnuji souvislostem pronikání přítomnosti do psaní o historii. Aplikuji tento koncept na vybrané texty, které zastupují českou odbornou debatu o „sudetoněmecké otázce“v letech 1989 – 1996. V závěrečné části se věnuji úvahám a možnostem aplikace soudobých metodologických přístupů historiografie na dané téma.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with post-modern thinking on writing of contemporary history. It is based on the work of Robert Gildea and Alya Aglan, who formulated together the concept of „tyranny of the present” in writing about history. In this context the work deals with penetration of the present in to the writing of history. I applied this concept on selected texts, which represented Czech scholar debate on the „Sudeten German issue” in the years 1989 – 1996. In the final part, the possibilities and ideas of application of such contemporary methodological approaches of historiography are elaborated
