Comparison of textbooks for English and German for beginners in terms of themes and texts, vocabulary and grammar

Abstract:

In my diploma thesis I am dealing with the compare of schoolbooks for English and German language. The theoretical part deals with the language policy within the European Union, thereafter I am focusing on the language policy of the Czech primary schools. In the next part I am dealing with tasks of the tertiary didactics for German language, which is in most cases taught as the second language. The empirical part contains analysis of language textbooks. Textbooks are analyzed in general and with focus on the topics and texts, vocabulary and grammar. In the next step I am concentrating on the comparison of the language textbooks from the point of view of those criteria. Overview of the similarities, which exist in both language textbooks, is also a part of the diploma thesis.

Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci se zabývám srovnáním učebnic pro anglický a pro německý jazyk. V teoretické části zkoumám jazykovou politiku v rámci Evropské unie, dále se pak soustřeďuji na jazykovou politiku na českých základních školách. V další části řeším úkoly terciální didaktiky pro německý jazyk, který se nejčastěji vyučuje jako druhý cizí jazyk. Praktická část diplomové práce obsahuje analýzy jazykových učebnic. Učebnice jsou analyzovány obecně, dále pak se zřetelem na témata a texty, slovní zásobu a gramatiku. V dalším kroku se soustřeďuji na srovnání jazykových učebnic právě z hlediska zmíněných kritérií. Přehled podobností, které se vyskytují v obou jazykových učebnicích zároveň, je také součástí diplomové práce.
