Czech Blind Composers at the Turn Of the 19th and 20th Century and Their Vocal Works

Abstract:

Tato práce představuje vokální tvorbu skladatelů s těžkým zrakovým postižením. Zaměřuje se na autory přelomu 19. a 20. století, kdy je započat proces integrace nevidomých lidí do společnosti. Hlavním cílem práce je přiblížit dílo nevidomých autorů, upozornit na specifika jejich tvorby a její interpretace, a přispět tak ke znovuobjevení jejich zapomenutého odkazu. Práce je zpracována metodou dlouhodobého studia relevantních pramenů v podobě dostupných notových materiálů a odborné literatury z oblasti muzikologie a okrajově i tyflopedie. Pro vznik textu jsou použity též materiály, jež existují pouze v Braillově písmu. Na základě výzkumu zdrojů je doloženo, že tvorba nevidomých autorů je významnou součástí odkazu české hudební kultury a zaslouží si pozornost interpretů a badatelů

Abstract:

This thesis presents the vocal works of visually impaired composers. It is focused on authors active at the turn of 19th and 20th century, when the integration of blind people to society was being initiated. The main aim of this thesis is describing work of blind authors, pointing out particularities of their work and its interpretation and contributing to rediscover their forgotten legacy. The thesis was composed by studying relevant sources such as some accessible scores and specialized literature from the field of musicology and marginally typhlopedy. Some materials used in the text are available only in Braille. The researched sources attest that works of blind authors are a significant part of Czech music culture and is worth paying attention of researchers and interpreters.
