The Terezin ghetto - situation and operation of the Jewish municipality.

Abstract:

Práce pojednává o postavení židovské samosprávy v ghettu Terezín v době druhé světové války v letech 1941-1945. Zaměřuje se na vztahy mezi vedoucími židovskými představiteli a nacistickou mocí a snaží se pojednat o tom, do jaké míry lze v souvislosti s židovskými staršími hovořit o kolaboraci. V práci jsou představeni jednotliví židovští starší, jejich osobnost a jejich osud. V práci se autor snaží poukázat na to, že jejich podíl viny na osudu deportovaných Židů do koncentračních táborů byl v poválečné době nadsazován. I židovští představitelé ghetta byli pouze oběťmi.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with a situation of the Jewish municipality in Terezin ghetto during the World War II in the years 1941-1945. It focuses on the relations between head representatives of the Jews and the Nazis' power and tries to treat about the fact to what degree we can speak about the collaboration as for the Jewish elders. The thesis shows all hte elders, their personalities and fates. The author tries to point out to the fact that their guilt for the Jews' lives was exaggerated after the end of the war. Even the Jewish representatives were just the victims.
