Calendars in the manuscripts of the Benedictines from Rajhrad

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na středověký kalendář, přičemž přináší obecný úvod týkající se středověkého kalendáře a především jako konkrétní příklad zpracovává vybrané rukopisy z fondu rajhradských benediktinů uložené v Moravské zemské knihovně. Z této sbírky je vybráno čtrnáct následujících rukopisů obsahujících kalendária: R 23, R 347, R 349, R 355, R 385, R 394, R 397, R 419, R 421, R 581, R 591, R 598, R 625 a R 626. Práce přináší jejich popis, přičemž zachycuje: dataci rukopisu, typ rukopisu, psací látku rukopisu, typ písma, barvy inkoustu kalendária, strukturu kalendária, chronologickou a liturgickou stránku kalendária, kde si všímá svátků světců preferovaných v českém prostředí. Hlavním cílem bylo pokusit se na základě údajů zachycených v kalendáriích o určení datace a provenience každého ze studovaných rukopisů. Závěrem práce pro ukázku přináší edici kalendária rukopisu se signaturou R 23 a obrazovou přílohu.

Abstract:

The bachelor work is focused on the medieval calendar, whereas it brings general introduction pertaining to the medieval calendar and as a concrete example there are mainly elaborated the chosen manuscripts from the fund of the Benedictines from Rajhrad which are stored in the Moravian Library. From this collection there are chosen fourteen following manuscripts where the calendars are contained: R 23, R 347, R 349, R 355, R 385, R 394, R 397, R 419, R 421, R 581, R 591, R 598, R 625 and R 626. There is included their description in the work and it also contains: date of a manuscript, type of a manuscript, writing material, type of the scripture, colours of the inks of a calendar, structure of a calendar, chronological and liturgical aspects of a calendar where the festivities of the saints preferred in the Czech environment are accented. The main objective of the work was to try, on the basis of data written in the calendars, to determine the date and provenance of each of studied manuscripts. In fine the work brings, as a sample, an edition of the calendar in the manuscript with signature number R 23 and hooked illustration.
