Early Music in the Czech Republic - Subculture of its interpreters and listeners

Anotácia:

Diplomová práce se metodou empirického výzkumu snaží zjistit, zda skupina posluchačů a interpretů staré hudby vykazuje prvky typické pro subkultury. V prvních kapitolách autorka na základě odborné literatury definuje pojmy kultura a subkultura a vztah těchto dvou entit k proměně společnosti v důsledku působení masových médií. Druhá část práce je věnována situační analýze trhu v oblasti staré hudby. V závěrečné části jsou vyhodnocována data získaná v průběhu třech výzkumných šetření, která dohromady zahrnují více než 700 respondentů. Výsledky výzkumu potvrdily domněnku o existenci subkultury na základě naplnění definovaných znaků typických pro subkultury obecně. Výběr tématu koresponduje se stále sílícím zájmem o tento hudební žánr nejen v České republice, ale i ve světě. Současně práce upozorňuje na to, že navzdory existující poptávce je nabídka vzdělání a osvěty veřejnosti v oblasti staré hudby neuspokojivá. Praktický dopad práce spočívá v uplatnění nabyté znalosti charakteristik této specifické cílové skupiny. V závěru práce je proto uveden návrh, jakým způsobem lze naložit se zjištěnými daty.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to confirm the presumption of the existence of “early-music subculture”. The first part is dedicated to the explanation of terms culture and subculture in the connection with the transformation of the society due to the influence of mass media. Furthermore, the thesis brings the analysis of the early-music market in the Czech Republic. The final part describes the results of three researches which were held among more than 700 respondents. These results acknowledged the previous presumption of the subculture traits. The theme of this diploma thesis has been chosen according to rising interest in this music genre not only in the Czech Republic, but abroad as well. Simultaneously, the thesis is warning that the educational system does not reflect the demand which already exists in the Czech Republic at all. The research brought a lot of information about this specific target group to light. Therefore, the thesis offers how this can be used in work experience.
