Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této studie bylo posouzení dopadu degradace půdy na zemědělství v okrese Sanyati v Zimbabwe. Studie zkoumá hlavní příčiny degradace půdy, dopad degradace na ornou půdu ve studované oblasti, analyzuje vliv degradace půdy na roční příjem zemědělců ve studované oblasti, a nakonec vyhodnocuje strategii zmírňování degradace půdy v Sanyati. Primární data byla získána prostřednictvím administrace dotazníku v Sanyati, který zodpovědělo 324 respondentů. Výzkum ukazuje, že degradace půdy je do značné míry způsobena odlesňováním. Rovněž se ukázalo, že existuje silná souvislost mezi tím, jak příčiny zmenšují plochu orné půdy, čímž se snižuje její úroda, což nakonec negativně ovlivňuje roční příjem zemědělců. Studie naznačila, že strategie zemědělců katastrofálně selhávají. Jde o začarovaný kruh soustředěný mezi ekonomickými faktory, nedostatkem podpory ze strany vlády a dalšími aktéry ze soukromého sektoru. Byl vyvozen závěr, že pokud nebudou řešeny ekonomické faktory, bude obtížné bojovat proti degradaci půdy v okrese Sanyati. Bohužel je zemědělství, které je zasaženo nejvíce, hlavním živobytím v tomto regionu, ve kterém bude z tohoto důvodu chudoba pravděpodobně přetrvávat. Autorka doporučuje elektrifikaci venkova a využití dalších snadno dostupných alternativ energie šetrných k životnímu prostředí, například sluneční energie, jako řešení problému odlesňování. Rekultivace půdy je také jedním z vynikajících způsobů obnovy znehodnocené půdy, která umožňuje její omlazení, spolu s přísnými zákony a speciální jednotkou určenou k ochraně zájmů půdy. Pro zvrácení účinků degradace půdy bude důležitá aktivní účast každého občana, zejména vlivných politiků. Tímto se potenciálně zabrání další ztrátě, zajistí se obnova toho, co již bylo ztraceno a bude zabezpečen dostatek zdrojů pro další generace.

Abstract:

The main objective of the study was to examine the impact of land degradation on agriculture in the district of Sanyati in Zimbabwe. Specifically, the researcher examined the major causes of land degradation, the impact of land degradation on arable land in the study area, analysed the influence of land degradation on the annual income of farmers in the study area and finally, evaluate mitigation strategies of land degradation in the study area. Primary data was obtained from the study area through the administration of questionnaire to 324 respondents. The study revealed that land degradation was largely caused by deforestation. It also revealed that there was a strong nexus on how the causes would reduce the size of the arable land thereby reducing their yields and ultimately negatively affecting their annual income. Be that as it may, the study indicated that the employed strategies by the farmers are failing dismally because it is a vicious cycle centred around economic factors and lack support from the government and other private sectors. It was concluded that unless the economic factors are addressed it will be difficult to combat land degradation in Sanyati district and it is quite unfortunate that agriculture is the hardest hit as it is the main livelihood in the area and poverty will continue to prevail. The researcher recommends rural electrification to address the problem of deforestation and other environmentally friendly energy alternatives readily available such as solar energy. Land reclamation is also one of the excellent ways to restore degraded land as it allows the land to rejuvenate coupled with strict laws and a special unit meant to safeguard the interests of land protection. Full participation of every citizen in reversing the effects of land degradation, especially the politicians because of their influence it will be easier to not only prevent but also restore what has already been lost so that there will be enough resources for the generations to follow.
