The importance and development of congress tourism

Abstract:

Důležitost odvětví MICE je podstatné zdůrazňovat, neboť hraje velice významnou roli v cestovním ruchu. Přináší do lokality důležitou klientelu a prostředky potřebné pro rozvoj destinace. Tato práce je zaměřena na zmapování vývoje a významu kongresového odvětví cestovního ruchu. Teoretická část se zabývá shromažďováním již známých poznatků o kongresovém cestovním ruchu jakožto definice, rozdělení, funkce atd. V analytické části jsem se soustředil na vývoj cestovního ruchu a kongresů v širším měřítku s postupným přechodem na pole kongresového cestovního ruchu v Praze. Ve své práci jsem se orientoval zejména na Prahu, neboť z hlediska MICE jde o nejdůležitejší lokalitu České republiky a postavení ČR ve světě se dle organizace ICCA a dalších posuzuje zejména podle Prahy. Význam kongresového cestovního ruchu lze demonstrovat, pokud analyzujeme dosavadní vývoj a trendy MICE. Jsou zde také uvedeny výstupy konferencí, na kterých jsem byl přítomen a které spojovalo stejné téma, tedy budoucnost kongresového odvětví. Dle získaných poznatků jsem identifikoval jednotlivé přínosy cestovního ruchu a kongresového cestovního ruchu, což bylo hlavní částí analýzy a cíle mé diplomové práce. V poslední návrhové části doporučuji kroky pro zefektivnění výkonů a lepší budoucnost kongresové Prahy.

Abstract:

The importance of the MICE industry is essential to emphasize, because it is a very significant role in tourism. It brings an important clientele to locations and the funds necessary for the development of destination. This theses is focused on mapping the evolution and significance of congress tourism sector. The theoretical part deals with the collection of already known findings about the congress tourism as the definition, classification, function and so on. In the analytical part I focused on the development of tourism and conventions on a wider scale and gradually moving to the field of convention tourism in Prague. In my work I focused mainly on Prague, since the terms of MICE is the most important site of the Czech Republic and the position of the Czech Republic in the world is according to ICCA organizations and others judged mainly by Prague. The importance of congress tourism can be demonstrated if we analyze recent developments and trends in MICE. There are also listed outputs of conference at which I was present which linked the same theme, the future of the convention industry. According to lessons learned I identified the individual benefits of tourism and congress tourism, which is the main part of the analysis of my thesis. In the last part I suggest some steps to streamline operations and to make a better future of congress Prague.
