Swimming effect on particular kinetic skills of people with mental disabilities

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na vliv plavání na vybrané motorické schopnosti u jedinců s postižením. Respondenty tvořili žáci Základní školy a Praktické školy Arkadie, o.p.s. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou část, kde jsme se zaměřili na popis dítěte ve školním věku, současně jsme popsali mentální postižení z různých hledisek. Věnovali jsme pozornost Downovu syndromu, dětské mozkové obrně a autismu. Zaujalo nás rovněž plavání a to jak z hlediska historického, tak v současnosti. Klademe důraz především na smysl plavání a důsledky projevující se ve zlepšení zdravotního stavu. Praktickou část tvoří kvalitativní výzkum, jehož cílem bylo zjistit, zda má plavání vliv na rozvoj vybraných motorických schopností u vybraných dětí s postižením. Byly stanoveny dílčí úkoly, které nám přispěly ke zjištění daného cíle. Výsledky jsme shrnuli do grafů a tabulek. Závěrem bylo zjištění, že plavání v jakékoliv podobě má pozitivní vliv na rozvoj motorických dovedností, posiluje sebevědomí a zvyšuje fyzickou zdatnost zúčastněných osob.

Abstract:

The Diploma Thesis is concerned with the influence of swimming on selected motorical abilities of disabled individuals. Respondents were chosen from pupils attending Primary School and Special School Arkadie, NPO. The Thesis is divided into the theoretical part in which we dealt with the description of a child in school age. At the same time, we gave a description of mental disabilities from various points of view. We paid attention to Down syndrome, infantile cerebral palsy and autism. We also discussed the problematic of swimming both from the perspective of the past and from the perspective of the present. We accentuate especially the importance and the purpose of swimming as well as its effects regarding the improvement of the state of health. The practical part is composed of the qualitative research whose aim was to find out whether swimming influenced the development of selected motorical abilities of disabled children. We laid down fragmental tasks which contributed to detect the given goal. The results are summarized in graphs and tables. The conclusion is that swimming in any existing form embodies a positive effect on the development of motorical abilities. Furthermore, it boosts self-confidence and improves physical efficiency of involved individuals.
